Special Events Intern
(August - December 2016)

New York City Ballet is seeking an enthusiastic and responsible individual with a strong interest in fundraising to intern during its Fall season.  The Fall Intern will receive guidance from seasoned Development professionals and receive practical training through the immersive experience involved in the preparation of gala events, as well as the management of the Tessitura database as it relates to development events.

  • Solicit and track in-kind support for benefit events
  • Draft and proof copy for printed materials, website content, e-mail blasts, newsletters, and other donor correspondence
  • Retrieve guest information and facilitate solicitation and courtesy calls
  • Conduct donor research for gala dinner seating
  • Update database as it pertains to Special Events mailing lists
  • Assist with printing letters, envelopes, and assembling invitations
  • Compile Special Events Playbill listings for 12-month cumulative giving
  • Organize and manage press clippings for gala benefit coverage
  • Provide support at benefit events and cultivation events
  • Update out-of-date email addresses and evaluate bounce-back list
  • Answer incoming calls, field questions, and take event ticket orders
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Provide general administrative support as needed
  • Professional demeanor, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and Tessitura a plus
  • Availability to work some nights and weekends
This internship is unpaid. Desired time commitment is at least 20 hours per week with flexibility to schedule. School credit may be arranged.
