Likolani Brown was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, and began her dance training at the age of seven with Patricia Berrend, Mary Day, Rudolf Kharatian, Victoria Leigh, and Lorraine Spiegler at the Washington School of the Ballet. Ms. Brown entered the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, full time in the fall of 2001. During the summer of 2002, she apprenticed with the Chautauqua Ballet Company. In the fall of 2003, Ms. Brown became an apprentice with New York City Ballet. As an apprentice, Ms. Brown danced a featured role in Michel Fokine's Chopiniana, performed by SAB as part of New York City Ballet's winter 2004 season, and she originated a corps role in Christopher Wheeldon's Shambards in May of 2004. In June 2004, Ms. Brown joined New York City Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet.
Ms. Brown was a bronze medal winner at the 2001 Youth America Grand Prix.
