The Ballet Bridges Middle School program allows students to make dance a lifelong activity. Classroom teachers and NYCB Teaching Artists work together to encourage students to participate in a variety of roles including dancer, collaborator, and observer. 13 in-school workshops focus on the elements of dance as they relate to visual art, culminating in the performance of student choreographic work. Participating classes will attend a live NYCB performance, take a tour of the David H. Koch Theater, and visit a partner NYC arts and cultural organization.

Students began to appreciate the performing arts on a different level. Some of the boys realized that ballet and dance moves can be ‘cool’ and worth performing. One boy, a low-leveled reader, was thoroughly impressed during the presentations in our school and at the David Koch Theater to the point where he exclaimed ‘I get the story they are telling and they aren't even using words!’
