This program provides an intimate look at a variety of Balanchine’s classical ballets: his one-act version of Swan Lake breathes new passion and heartbreak into a familiar tale; Allegro Brillante is an exuberant, thirteen-minute whirlwind of choreography; and Tschaikovsky Suite No. 3 begins solemnly and swells with each movement, finishing with a grand finale full of tutus and tiaras.

Balanchine’s one-act revision of Tschaikovsky’s Swan Lake, with its corps of sleek black swans and icy landscape, infuses this enchanting classic with new passion and heartbreak.
Allegro Brillante

In his own words, George Balanchine called the exuberant Allegro Brillante "everything I know about classical ballet in thirteen minutes."
