These exclusive behind-the-scenes events offer family, senior, student, and performance groups the opportunity to interact with and learn from NYCB artists.

Private class with a NYCB dancer
Dance students (ages 13 and older with prior ballet experience) have the opportunity to take a Balanchine technique class taught by a NYCB dancer. There’s no better way to learn ballet than from the professionals themselves! A few non-participating group members may observe for a $10 fee. 60-90 minute class. Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.
Personalized class and coaching session with a NYCB dancer
Performance groups are invited inside the rehearsal studio with the option to learn choreography from NYCB’s 2015-16 Season or to receive coaching from a NYCB dancer on an existing routine. Non-participating group members may observe for a $10 fee. 60-90 minute workshop. Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.

NYCB performances feature live music from the Company’s own 62-piece Orchestra. In a 45-minute pre-performance discussion, your group will enjoy the splendor of the Theater as an Orchestra member leads a conversation on music’s integral contribution to the beauty of a ballet performance. 45-minute discussion.

Join our costume shop supervisor on a 45-minute guided tour of various locations where costumes are stored and readied for use in performances, while hearing first-hand about costume design, creation, and maintenance. 45-minute tour.

Experience ballet from the other side of the footlights
A NYCB dancer will escort your group on a 45-minute discussion tour, sharing insights into the life of a dancer and answering questions about the performance your group is attending. You’ll hear interesting moments from the history of both NYCB and our home, the David H. Koch Theater, and also have an opportunity for a breathtaking view of the auditorium from onstage. 45-minute discussion.

Ballet Class and Performance Workshop take place in NYCB’s rehearsal studios, dressing rooms are available.
