New York City Ballet will welcome spring with one of the most prestigious social events of the year: the 2016 Spring Gala. This year will honor NYCB Board Chairman Jay Fishman for his unparalleled dedication to the Company. This year's event will be chaired by NYCB Board Members Ursula Burns and Lesley Stahl.
The program will be Alexei Ratmansky's Concerto DSCH, which made its NYCB premiere in 2008. Also onstage will be the premiere of Mothership, an original work by French choreographer Nicolas Blanc, Ballet Master and Principal Coach with the Joffrey Ballet. Rounding out the performance will be the highly anticipated world premiere of American Rhapsody by Tony Award-winner (An American in Paris, Best Choreography) and former NYCB Resident Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, set to Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, featuring costumes by former NYCB Principal Dancer Janie Taylor and scenery by New York-based Cuban artist Leslie Sardinias.
The night will begin with a cocktail reception presented by Ruinart Champagne at 5:30 PM, followed by a 7 PM performance, and will conclude with a 9 PM elegant black-tie Supper Ball on the Promenade of the David H. Koch Theater with members of the Company in attendance.
