Fearful Symmetries (Adams/Martins)
The Shimmering Asphalt | New Lidberg (Lang)
The Times are Racing | New Peck (Deacon)
As “the world’s most creatively prodigious ballet troupe” (The New York Times), each winter we honor our mission in a program featuring a new work. This season we double down with two premieres alongside a vibrant Peter Martins ballet. Justin Peck’s latest work for the Company has our dancers trading in their pointe shoes for sneakers in a piece set to music from Dan Deacon’s album America. Critically lauded choreographer and filmmaker Pontus Lidberg’s new work, his first for the company, is set to a commissioned score by David Lang. This program is complete with Martins’ Fearful Symmetries, an ever-changing cascade of dancers with a racing score by celebrated American composer John Adams.
