Each year volunteers contribute more than 25,000 hours helping the Company in many ways. Serving on separate committees volunteers welcome donors at receptions, provide information at performances, greet and guide donors at rehearsals, provide insights to our repertory as docents, help sell tickets to special programs for people new to ballet, and regularly work in Company offices in many supportive administrative jobs. We have volunteer opportunities weekdays or weekends, days or evenings; assignments are based on individual interest, experience, and availability

The New York City Ballet Volunteer Service is a group of approximately 250 men and women. It is composed of volunteer committees, headed by a chairman or co-chairmen. The committees are:
Administrative Assistance - Providing clerical help to various Company offices. Daytime work.
Archive Committee - Assisting Company archivist at our archive facility, cataloging, archive labeling; filing- general administrative work. Daytime work.
Backstagers - Monday morning backstage tours for young children.
Business & Professional - Introducing New York City Ballet to professional and business people through several “Evening at the Ballet” events. Evening work.
Docents - Giving talks on New York City Ballet and its repertoire before performances. Imparting knowledge of dance history and technical aspects of ballet to the public. Giving backstage tours. Some research required. Evening and weekend work.
Green Room - Staffing the Travelers Patron Lounge receptions for donors. Evening and weekend work.
Information - Acting as informal public relations representatives for New York City Ballet. Giving out information during performances about the Company, membership benefits, and dance in general. Some research required. Evening and weekend work.
Nutcracker- Staffing Patron Lounge receptions during performances of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker™. Evening and weekend work.
Special Presentations - Assist with set-up, admission and ushering at special presentations, pre-performance lectures, and artist chats. Evening and weekend work.
Rehearsal Service - Assisting donors attending working rehearsals. Providing information and supervising rehearsal visits. Giving backstage tours. Some research required. Daytime work.
Rose Building Reception - Assisting staff and dancers, screening and receiving visitors at Rose Building studios and offices. Daytime, early evening and weekend work.
Seminars - Helping with research and arrangements for member seminars.
