Double Feature

Choreography by: Susan Stroman

Music by: Irving Berlin and Walter Donaldson

Broadway’s Susan Stroman’s tribute to the silver screen era features two unique stories: “The Blue Necklace” is a 1920s Cinderella story and “Makin’ Whoopee” portrays a bachelor’s race to find the perfect wife and inherit millions.

Double Feature, Susan Stroman’s first full length work for the Company, was created in 2004 as part of the “Balanchine 100: The Centennial Celebration”. Other works she has created for NYCB have included Blossom Got Kissed, created in 1999, and a companion piece, Frankie and Johnny… and Rose created in 2011. Double Feature is comprised of two unique stories including “The Blue Necklace”, a classic melodrama, and “Makin’ Whoopee”, a raucous comedy, both inspired by the silent film era.
