Background
David Prottas was born in Boston, Massachusetts.  He began studying ballet at the Walnut Hill School.  In 2002, Mr. Prottas began studying at Canada’s National Ballet School with Sergiu Stefanschi.  He studied at the School of American Ballet, the official school of New York City Ballet, in 2005 and became an apprentice with New York City Ballet in 2006.  Mr. Prottas was asked to become a member of the corps de ballet in October 2007.

Mr. Prottas is the recipient of the Christopher Ondaatje Ballet Prize,  the Jerome Robbins Scholarship and the Mae L. Wien Award.
