Katie Bergstrom was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. She began her dance training at the age of eight at Judith Lee Johnson's Studio of Dance with Lenny Holmes, Kim Christi, Svetlana Osiyeva, and Sasha Yapparov. She also performed with the Florida West Youth Ballet in St. Petersburg, Florida. Ms. Bergstrom entered the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, full-time in the fall of 1999. In November 2001, Ms. Bergstrom became an apprentice with New York City Ballet, and in October 2002 she joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet.

Since joining NYCB, Ms. Bergstrom has originated corps roles in:
