Background

Saskia Beskow was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. She began her ballet training at the age of six with a private ballet school. After two years, she began studying with the school of the Royal Danish Ballet. She eventually became a member of the corps de ballet at the Royal Danish Ballet where she danced much of the Bournonville repertory. In 1997, Ms. Beskow was invited to join New York City Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet.
