Background

Troy Schumacher was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and began studying ballet with Atlanta Ballet in 2000.  In 2001, he began studying summer sessions at Chautauqua, where he worked with Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, Patricia McBride, and Violette Verdy.  He became a full time student at the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, in the Fall of 2002. In January 2005 he became an apprentice with NYCB and joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet in December 2005.
