Background
Aaron Severini was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts. He began his dance training at the age of eight at Southern Academy of Ballet Arts in Tallahassee, Florida, under the direction of Charles Hagan and Natalia Botha. After moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Mr. Severini's dance training continued at the Chapel Hill Ballet School under the direction of M'liss Dorrance and Jennifer Potts. At age 12, he began studying at the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In 1995, Mr. Severini was invited to study at the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet. In October 1998, he became an apprentice with New York City Ballet, and he joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet in March 2000.

Teaching
Apart from performing with New York City Ballet, Mr. Severini has taught at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Summer Program. He also took part in the production of Stanley Williams' CD.
Additional Information
Mr. Severini began studying the piano and composing at the age of eight. While at SAB, he continued studying piano under the guidance of concert pianist and teacher, Dr. Jeffrey Middleton. After joining the Company, Mr. Severini became interested in choreography as well and began writing music with ballet in mind. In the fall of 2000, he participated in the New York Choreographic Institute and choreographed a short ballet to his own music composition. Following the Choreographic Institute, he was invited to choreograph for the 2001 School of American Ballet Choreographic Workshop.

Mr. Severini's recent compositions include Prelude in F major, Arioso in A flat major for Piano and Viola, and a piano composition for a short ballet, a showpiece for three boys, choreographed by dancer and choreographer Ryan Kelly for the Youth America Grand Prix Gala performance at Alice Tully Hall.
