Background

Born in Dallas, Texas, Jennifer Tinsley-Williams began ballet training at the age of six. She studied at Brookhaven Community College, The Nancy Schoeffenburg Ballet School, Dallas Ballet and Dallas Metropolitan Ballet. Ms. Tinsley-Williams attended summer classes at the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, from 1983-1988 and studied there full-time from 1988-1990. She became an apprentice with the New York City Ballet in the spring of 1990 and was invited to join the Company's corps de ballet in 1991. Ms. Tinsley-Williams was promoted to the rank of soloist in 1999.

She has been seen on national television in PBS's "Dance in America" broadcast of "The Balanchine Celebration" and in the Pas de Trois from Peter Martins' Swan Lake on PBS' Live from Lincoln Center.

Film Credits

Ms. Tinsley-Williams danced in the film version of New York City Ballet's production of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker™, co-produced by Elektra Entertainment/New Regency Films, distributed by Warner Brothers and released in the winter of 1993, and Accent on the Offbeat, a documentary of Peter Martins' Jazz (Six Syncopated Movements) produced by Sony Classical.
