Background

Giovanni Villalobos was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico.  He began stuyding ballet at age eight at Taller de Varones.  He attended summer courses at the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, in 2000 and 2001, and became a full time student that fall.  In June 2004 he became an apprentice with NYCB and joined the corps de ballet in July 2005.
