New York City Ballet has announced its Close-Up programs for the 2009 winter season. There are informative events for both adults and children, designed to give audiences a closer look at New York City Ballet and its repertory. NYCB dancers, choreographers, ballet masters, musicians, artists, and experts share insights and behind-the-scenes stories that help audiences better understand and appreciate all that goes into a performance.
A highlight of this winter’s Close-Up programs is a special seminar in tribute to the School of American Ballet’s 75th Anniversary on Monday, January 26, at 6:00 pm, that will explore the historic partnership between New York City Ballet and the School of American Ballet. The seminar panel will feature Peter Martins, NYCB Ballet Master in Chief and SAB Artistic Director and Chairman of Faculty; Kay Mazzo, SAB Co-Chairman of Faculty; Darci Kistler, NYCB Principal Dancer and SAB faculty member; and Jonathan Stafford, NYCB Principal Dancer and SAB faculty member.
A calendar of events is attached. Tickets for Studio Talks and Children’s Workshops are $8, Seminar tickets are $5, and tickets for Ballet for Young People are $12. Tickets may be purchased at the David H. Koch Theater box office at Lincoln Center or through www.nycballet.com.
