New York City Ballet's Spring Gala, Thursday, April 29, 1999

What: New York City Ballet's Spring Gala will continue the Company's 50th Anniversary celebration with the largest fund-raiser ever. The Spring Gala will feature the much anticipated American premiere of Peter Martins' full-length Swan Lake set to Tschaikovsky's spectacular score. Swan Lake, one of the most important and compelling works in ballet, has fascinated audiences since the 1895 Petipa-Ivanov staging. In 1951 George Balanchine choreographed a beautiful one-act version of this timeless classic. And now, the tradition continues with the exciting Company premiere of Peter Martins' Swan Lake, which will be followed by a dazzling black-tie Supper Ball on the New York State Theater's Promenade.
