Choreographic Institute

The New York Choreographic Institute was founded in the Spring of 2000 by Irene Diamond and Peter Martins. The Institute promotes the development of choreographers and dancers involved in classical choreography by providing opportunities to develop their talents.

The Institute advances its mission through four programmatic initiatives:

Choreographic Sessions

Candidates are chosen on the basis of their experience and potential. They are provided dancers, time and studio space. View the full list of past sessions.

New Initiative

The New York Choreographic Institute is pleased to announce a new initiative to support emerging choreographers who have been commissioned by a ballet company to create a new ballet to be presented on stage.

Choreographic Forums

Symposia and round-table discussions on choreography, music, lighting, costume and scenic design.

Choreographic Residency
