Davide Bombana
Davide Bombana was born in Milan, Italy where he studied at the Ballet School of La Scala and graduated in 1977. Upon his graduation, Mr. Bombana joined La Scala Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet and was promoted to Soloist and then Principal Dancer. He has danced with the Pennsylvania Ballet, Scottish Ballet, and London Festival Ballet. In 1986 he joined the Bayerisches Staatsballett in Munich, Germany, as a Principal Dancer where he danced until 1991 and choreographed from 1991–1998. During his time as a choreographer in Munich, he premiered several new ballets including Sonata, Parabel and full-lengths Luigi Nono Project and Ein Traumspiel for which he was awarded the Benois de la Danse prize in 1998. That same year, Mr. Bombana was appointed director of Maggio Danza in Florence, Italy. He has continued to create works for the Bayerisches Staatsballett and Maggio Danza, and in addition, has created ballets for Ballet du Rhin, Zaragoza Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Aalto Ballet Essen, Grand Ballet de Génève, John Cranko Schule, Paris Conservatory, Queensland Ballet Australia, Karlsruhe Ballett and Ballet du Capitole Toulouse.
