ANNABELLE LOPEZ OCHOA
Annabelle Lopez Ochoa was born in 1973 in Leuven, Belgium. She received her classical ballet training at the Royal Academy of Antwerp beginning at the age of eleven. In 2003, Ms. Lopez Ochoa’s professional focus shifted solely to choreography. Since this shift, she has choreographed for many ballet companies internationally, including the Scapino Ballet, the Dutch National Ballet, Djazzex, Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, The Royal Ballet of Flanders, Gran Canaria Ballet and the Gothenburg Opera Ballet. She has also choreographed for the freelance Dutch production house Danswerkplaats Amsterdam. Her critically acclaimed piece Before After, which was created for the Dutch National Ballet in 2002, has been performed at the Dance Passion Festival in the Netherlands, the New York Fall for Dance Festival, the Houston Dance Salad Festival and will be performed at the Orange County Fall for Dance Festival later this Fall. Ms. Lopez Ochoa has won several choreography awards including third prize at the 2002 International Competition for Choreographers in Hanover with Clair/Obscur and first place and the Public’s Choice Award with Replay at the 2003 International Choreographer’s Competition of Bornem.
