IVA ROHLIK

Iva Rohlik was born in Vienna, Austria, and began her ballet training at the Vienna State Opera Ballet School. In 1992 she became a member of the Vienna State Opera Ballet, where she danced until 1997. Ms. Rohlik then spent two seasons at the Hamburg Ballet before returning to the Vienna State Opera Ballet as a demi-soloist. She has danced solo roles in George Balanchine's The Four Temperaments and La Valse, John Cranko's Romeo and Juliet, and Mats Ek's Giselle. In 1995, Ms. Rohlik won Best Interpretation at the Prix Volinine in Paris and was also named Best Newcomer in the dance magazine Ballet International. Ms. Rohlik choreographed Quiet City in September 2003 for the Vienna State Opera Ballet. In addition to dancing with the Vienna State Opera Ballet, Ms. Rohlik teaches ballet classes in Vienna and is a member of the Austrian Federal Dance Advisory. Ms. Rohlik also taught ballet for Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker's School P.A.R.T.S and the company Rosas in Brussels, and at the Summer Dance Festival ImPuls Tanz 2005 in Vienna. In 2005, she choreographed Metamorphosen for Graz Opera Ballet, and graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Communication, Dramatics and History of Art from the University of Vienna.
