JONATHAN WATKINS

Jonathan Watkins was born in South Yorkshire, England.  He had success as a choreographer at the Royal Ballet School, winning the Kenneth MacMillan Choreographic Award and Ursula Morton Award.  Since joining The Royal Ballet in 2003 Mr. Watkins works have included Refresh, Proceed, In the Presence of Others and Remind Me.  Recent commissions for the Royal Ballet include Silent Vision for Zenaida Yanowsky and Stop me when I’m Stuck.  Away from the Royal Ballet he has created From Within for the Royal Ballet School’s annual summer performance 2007 and Abstract Balance with East London Dance.  Mr. Watkins made Beyond Prejudice and Free Falling for The Curve Foundation Dance Company in 2008.  Currently he is in the primary stages of planning for a main stage commission for the Royal Ballet to premiere in the 09/10 season.
