New York City Ballet Presents Ballet For Young People Saturday, June 5 at 11 AM

The New York City Ballet Experience Hosted by NYCB Principal Dancer and SAB Faculty Member Philip Neal, This Special Event for Families Will Also Feature Special Guests including Jennie Somogyi, Benjamin Millepied, Kathleen Tracey, Cameron Dieck, Lauren Lovette and Others

New York City Ballet will present the second program of a special two-part Ballet for Young People series on Saturday, June 5 at 11 a.m. at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. Featuring demonstrations and NYCB repertory excerpts performed by NYCB dancers, this hour-long, interactive program is a favorite event for family audiences and the perfect introduction to the world of ballet for children ages four and older.

This year NYCB designed a two-part Ballet for Young People program to provide a behind-the-scenes look at the extraordinary journey that dancers make from the School of American Ballet, NYCB’s official school, to becoming a professional dancer with the Company.  This event on June 5 called The New York City Ballet Experience is the finale of the two-part series and will focus on a dancer’s transition from SAB to the Company, offering an inside look at a dancer’s potential rise from Apprentice, to Corps de Ballet member, to Soloist, to Principal.  The event will be hosted by NYCB Principal Dancer and SAB faculty member Philip Neal, and will also feature NYCB Principal Dancer Jennie Somogyi, NYCB Principal Dancer and Choreographer Benjamin Millepied, NYCB Ballet Master Kathleen Tracey, NYCB Corps member Cameron Dieck and NYCB apprentice Lauren Lovette.

Tickets for Ballet for Young People are $12 per person and may be purchased at the David H. Koch Theater box office at Lincoln Center or online at www.nycballet.com. For more information, please contact the NYCB Education department at education@nycballet.com or 212-870-5636.

New York City Ballet’s 2010 Spring Season continues through Sunday, June 27, at the David H. Koch Theater, located at 63rd Street and Columbus Avenue. For more information on any NYCB performance call 212-870-5570 or visit www.nycballet.com.
