A program of iconic Balanchine masterworks, the curtain rises on the breathtakingly elegant Serenade. Stravinsky Violin Concerto is a signature “black and white” leotard ballet, and a rousing all-American favorite, Stars and Stripes, is a spirited finale.

The first ballet Balanchine choreographed in America is a romantic work of immense sweep, set to a transcendent Tschaikovsky score.

A carefully-woven masterpiece of geometry and ingenuity, Stravinsky Violin Concerto is a work of symmetry and order on the outside, but the pair of orchestral arias at its core provides the inspiration for two of Balanchine's most unique pas de deux.

Set to Sousa's buoyant marches and dressed in Karinska's delightful all-American costumes, Stars and Stripes contains as much pure dancing as many full-length classical ballets.
