Students

Students--all kinds of students--have always had a special place at New York City Ballet. George Balanchine's priority when he came to America was to found a school to teach young dancers. It is the School of American Ballet. As New York City Ballet has grown, Company choreographers have created many ballets with wonderful parts for children. In 1960, Balanchine inaugurated programs for public school children that, today, enable thousands of youngsters to discover the pleasure of ballet in many different and exciting ways. NYCB's Student Rush program invites University and High School students to make NYCB performances their own through frequent attendance at very affordable prices. If you dream of becoming the next Anna Pavlova or simply want to experience the exhilaration of moving to music, this section of our website is dedicated to you.
