Beginning February 2008, the north-south drive between 65th St. and 62nd St. is no longer available for the drop off of patrons requiring wheelchairs or other walking assistance under the canopy of the Terrace at the New York State Theater for Lobby access. The best option for patrons with limited mobility who require access to the New York State Theater with as few stairs as possible is to be dropped off on W. 62nd. St. At the west end of the Theater prior to Damrosch Park. Patrons exiting vehicles at this location should then proceed north (toward Lincoln Center Plaza) along the side of the Theater and turn right at the west end of the terrace to reach the main Lobby entrance. .
Wheelchair patrons may also be discharged at the New York StateTheater Wheelchair Entrance beginning 30 minutes before the start of the performance. Cars may enter from W. 62nd St. between Columbus Ave. and Amsterdam Ave. You may approach from either the east or west. There are two garage entrances that face W. 62nd St. Take the eastern-most entrance (the one closest to Columbus Ave.). Advise the security guards on duty of your need to use the Wheelchair Entrance. Upon discharging your passengers, they should ring the buzzer to gain access to the building. Once inside, a security guard will direct you to the elevators that will take you to the Orchestra Level. Drivers will be permitted to make a U-turn in the driveway to access the main parking garage entrances.
