The 2016 Spring Gala, chaired by NYCB Board Members Ursula Burns and Lesley Stahl, honored NYCB Board Chairman Jay Fishman for his unparalleled dedication to the Company,
The program featured Alexei Ratmansky's Concerto DSCH, which made its NYCB premiere in 2008. Also onstage was the premiere of Mothership, an original work by French choreographer Nicolas Blanc, Ballet Master and Principal Coach with the Joffrey Ballet. Rounding out the performance was the highly anticipated world premiere of American Rhapsody by Tony Award-winner (An American in Paris, Best Choreography) and former NYCB Resident Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, set to Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, featuring costumes by former NYCB Principal Dancer Janie Taylor and scenery by New York-based Cuban artist Leslie Sardinias.
