New York City Ballet will welcome the season with an annual favorite: the 2020 Spring Gala. The gala program will bring a new and exciting world premiere ballet to our stage, as well as two Balanchine classics.
The performance will feature a new work created by Jamar Roberts, Resident Choreographer and Company Member at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, in what will be his inaugural piece for NYCB. Returning to the stage will be Balanchine's romantic Sylvia: Pas de Deux, which has not been performed by the Company since 1994. Rounding out the program will be Balanchine's modernist masterpiece, The Four Temperaments.
The gala evening will begin with an elegant cocktail reception hosted by Ruinart Champagne, followed by the onstage program, and will conclude with a glittering black-tie Supper Ball on the Promenade of the David H. Koch Theater with dancers from the Company in attendance.
