Luce Nascosta (Unseen Light)

Choreography by: Mauro Bigonzetti

Music by: Bruno Moretti

A vibrant, cinematic score sets the tone for bold movement as dancers are transformed into exotic creatures that skim across the stage.

Mauro Bigonzetti’s fourth work for New York City Ballet, Luce Nascosta (Unseen Light) was created for NYCB’s Architecture of Dance Festival, and features an extraordinary set designed by the acclaimed architect Santiago Calatrava, one of five set designs he created for the festival. Set to a score commissioned by New York City Ballet by Bigonzetti’s long-time collaborator Bruno Moretti, the choreographer has described the work as a tribute to the dancers of the New York City Ballet. Moretti describes his score as being inspired by the style of a Baroque classical suite with various movements, such as the saraband and gigue, scored for full orchestra.
