Alexander Simionescu (First Violin) was born in Bucharest, Romania. He was a U.S. Presidential Scholar in 1981 and received a Diploma from the Curtis Institute of Music in 1985. 

Simionescu won first prize at the Concert Artists Guild International Competition in 1984, first prize at the Washington International Competition in 1985, and the Silver Medal and Prize for Best Performance of a Commissioned Work from the Montreal International Violin Competition in 1987. 

In January 1997, Simionescu joined the New York City Ballet Orchestra.
