Annual Luncheon
Annual Luncheon
February 7, 2023
We hope you will join us for our 2023 Annual Luncheon, taking place on Tuesday, February 7, which is a highlight of the city’s winter social calendar. The event will begin at 11 AM with the onstage program, followed by an elegant seated luncheon on the Promenade of the David H. Koch Theater.
This year’s program, an ode to ballet Americana, will showcase the bold, bright, and open horizons of the American West that are the subjects of many works in the Company’s repertory. Balanchine was well known for his love of all things Americana and used it to characteristic aplomb in ballets like Western Symphony and Square Dance. Justin Peck, New York City Ballet’s Resident Choreographer, continues this tradition with his new work premiering in January 2023 paying tribute to one of America’s foremost composers, Aaron Copland. Mr. Balanchine said that New York and by extension America was the only place he could have built NYCB; America’s wild spirit and creative energy are unique ingredients in what makes the Company’s work among the best in the world. This year’s onstage panel will welcome former and current NYCB dancers including Gloria Govrin, Christopher d’Amboise, Justin Peck, and Daniel Ulbricht to explore the pioneering spirit of New York City Ballet through performance excerpts, film, and discussion.
