Spring Gala
May 5, 2022
Please join us on Thursday, May 5, for the 2022 Spring Gala in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the legendary 1972 Stravinsky Festival.
The Gala Program will open with Jerome Robbins’ Circus Polka, a whimsical escapade for a carousel of 48 students from the School of American Ballet, joined by Balanchine’s Scherzo à la Russe, a sprightly dance for a female ensemble. This celebratory evening will highlight a world premiere by former NYCB Corps de Ballet Member Silas Farley that pays tribute to George Balanchine and Igor Stravinsky’s landmark works. The score, by composer and writer David K. Israel, will honor a musical exchange between Balanchine and Stravinsky commemorating Stravinsky’s 65th birthday. Closing the program will be Balanchine's streamlined masterpiece Stravinsky Violin Concerto.
The evening will begin with an elegant cocktail reception at 5:30 PM, followed by the performance at 7 PM, and will conclude with a glittering Supper Ball at 9 PM.
