A tribute to American music legend Ray Charles, A Fool for You features a cast of dancers performing to 12 songs in playful, sometimes sassy, choreography reminiscent of popular American 50s and 60s dances.
Set to 12 songs by the legendary composer and performer Ray Charles, A Fool for You was created by Peter Martins for New York City Ballet’s 1988 American Music Festival. At the premiere performance, on the closing night of the festival, Ray Charles and his back-up singers, the Raelettes, performed on-stage with the dancers of the New York City Ballet, performing such classic songs as “Hit the Road Jack,” “I Got A Woman,” and “What’d I Say” among others.
