The Nutcracker Project is designed to promote individual and group artistic expression inspired by themes, choreography, and music from George Balanchine's The Nutcracker®. NYCB Teaching Artists and classroom teachers engage with students in interdisciplinary workshops and lessons.

Each class will view a live recording of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® at Lincoln Center. Students will also have the opportunity to tune into an interactive livestreamed lecture demonstration with New York City Ballet dancers. The curriculum focuses on active art-making, collaboration, and critical reflection through poetry and creative movement.

The Nutcracker Project

A look at The Nutcracker Project, a school residency program designed to encourage and showcase the artistic expression of students through exposure to New York City Ballet.

My students loved to see their own movements incorporated into their class dance. It made them feel valued and truly allowed them to express themselves.
