NYCB's Troy Schumacher, whose own BalletCollective was deemed a "real discovery" by The New York Times, created Clearing Dawn, his first work for the Company’s main stage.
Troy Schumacher, a member of New York City Ballet since 2005, created Clearing Dawn for the 2014 Fall Gala; it was costumed by New York–based fashion designer Thom Browne, with lighting by Mark Stanley. Schumacher’s first ballet for the Company, to Brooklyn-based composer Judd Greenstein’s Clearing, Dawn, Dance, features 6 dancers, and is accompanied by a chamber ensemble of 6 musicians.
