Celebrating Jerome Robbins’ and Leonard Bernstein’s centennials, Justin Peck’s Easy is an energetic and colorful tribute to Robbins’ playful choreography and Bernstein’s jazzy music, utilizing a cast of six dancers with a vintage-inspired backdrop by Stephen Powers.
NYCB Resident Choreographer and Artistic Advisor Justin Peck’s 16th ballet for NYCB, Easy, is set to Leonard Bernstein’s Prelude, Fugue and Riffs. The work, which premiered at NYCB’s 2018 Spring Gala, honors the centennial of both NYCB co-founding choreographer Jerome Robbins and Bernstein, who collaborated on several works for both ballet and Broadway, and were both born in 1918.
Peck’s collaborators on Easy include the Philadelphia-born graffiti writer turned street artist, Stephen Powers, who has created the ballet’s backdrop; costume designers Reid Bartelme and Harriet Jung; and lighting designer Brandon Stirling Baker.
