For the Love of Duke combines two hits from Tony Award-winning Susan Stroman: "Frankie and Johnny ... and Rose" shows a two-timing Johnny who ultimately looses the affections of both the women vying for his attention and "Blossom Got Kissed" tells the tale of an awkward ballerina who is transformed by just one kiss.
For the Love of Duke is acclaimed director and choreographer Susan Stroman’s third work for New York City Ballet. Set to the music of Duke Ellington, the ballet features “Blossom Got Kissed,” which Stroman created for NYCB in 1999, as well as a new companion piece.
