A dark and seductive pas de deux, Funérailles’ tempestuous drama is furthered by an intense piano score and theatrical costumes: a sweeping, corseted gown for the woman and an elaborate gold-embroidered jacket for her partner. 

Liam Scarlett’s second ballet for the Company, Funérailles, premiered at NYCB's 2014 Fall Gala. The duet to Franz Liszt’s Funérailles from Harmonies poétiques et religieuses features costumes by British fashion designer Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and lighting by Mark Stanley.
