As an ensemble piece with string orchestra, Sidra Bell’s SUSPENDED ANIMATION entices the audience into its introspective world with Bauhaus-inspired, brilliantly vibrant costumes by Christopher John Rogers that morph to complement and at times restrict the oscillating contemporary choreography.
Following pixelation in a wave (Within Wires) created for new York City Ballet's virtual New works festival, SUSPENDED ANIMATION is the first live work for NYCB choreographed by Sidra Bell, the founder of Sidra Bell Dance New York. Comprised of four movements, with musical selections from composers Nicholos Britell, Oliver Davis, and Dosia McKay, SUSPENDED ANIMATION premiered at NYCB's 2021 Fall Gala. The ballet features costumes by fashion designer Christopher John Rogers and lighting by NYCB Resident Lighting Director Mark Stanley.
