Set to one of the few Reich pieces in NYCB’s repertory, New Blood is a series of bold and brisk pas de deux—each exit marked by the entrance of a new dancer, altering the choreographic motif for the couple—and features mod unitards with cutouts where the dancers make physical contact.
Set to Steve Reich’s Variations for Vibes, Pianos, and Strings, NYCB Resident Choreographer and Artistic Advisor Justin Peck’s New Blood premiered at the 2015 Fall Gala. The ballet, for 13 dancers in a series of duets, features costumes by Humberto Leon of Opening Ceremony and Kenzo, and lighting by Mark Stanley.
