Using Baroque melodies as counterpoint to modern movement, Jorma Elo's Slice to Sharp is a high-energy tour de force for eight fearless dancers.
Jorma Elo’s Slice to Sharp for eight dancers premiered in 2006 as part of the Diamond Project. Elo, the resident choreographer of Boston Ballet, uses a score of music by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber and Antonio Vivaldi. On first hearing the Vivaldi score featuring two violins, choreographer Jorma Elo recalls he felt “It was extreme playing on the edge of madness.”
