Set to a haunting John Cage score filled with sounds of thunder, fire, and breath, this impactful work inspired by the Salem witch trials features a cast of eight that utilizes simple yet versatile scenery pieces and concludes with a prickling finale.
Angelin Preljocaj’s Spectral Evidence is the French choreographer’s second commissioned work for NYCB. Preljocaj is the Artistic Director of Ballet Preljocaj, which has been based in Aix-en-Provence since 1996. The choreographer previously worked with NYCB in 1997 when he created the ballet La Stravaganza, set to works by Antonio Vivaldi, Evelyn Ficarra, Robert Normandeau, Serge Morand, and Ake Parmerud. Spectral Evidence had its world premiere at NYCB’s 2013 Fall Gala and features costumes designed by Belgian designer Olivier Theyskens and lighting designed by Mark Stanley.
