With a sense of suspense and exploration, this mesmerizing display of harmony in deconstruction offers a dynamic collection of movements that unveil a narrative of equality and empowerment.
For Unframed, her first work for NYCB, Colombian-Belgian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa chose a short chamber piece by Pēteris Vasks that calls for a singing cellist, with additional symphonic and orchestral music by Luigi Boccherini, Edward Elgar, and Antonio Vivaldi. For 10 principal dancers and a corps de ballet of eight women, Unframed premiered at the Fall 2016 Gala and features costumes designed by fashion designer Rosie Assoulin, and lighting by Mark Stanley.
