Experience New York City Ballet in a brand new way in these 75-minute movement workshops for teens and adults with little or no dance training.
NYCB dancers lead participants through a ballet warm-up and movement combinations inspired by repertory in the current season. Workshops also include a brief Q&A with the artists. With an ever-changing roster of dancers and repertory, no two Ballet Essentials are the same. Stretch your mind and body at these one-of-a-kind workshops led by some of your favorite dancers.

New York City Ballet Rehearsal Studios
Samuel B. & David Rose Building, 7th Floor
165 West 65th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam
We are thrilled to welcome visitors back to NYCB’s Rehearsal Studios in the Samuel B. & David Rose Building (the “Studios”) for in person events. New York City Ballet remains deeply committed to the health and safety of our visitors, artists, and staff. In compliance with developing guidelines issued by federal, state, and local governments, the Company has put in place preventative measures to try to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
With safety at the forefront, New York City Ballet will be implementing a mandatory vaccination policy for all visitors and employees 12 years of age and over. Visitors 12 and over must be fully vaccinated and will be required to show in person proof of vaccination against COVID-19 upon entering the Rose Building. Due to the intimate nature of our Ballet Essentials Workshops and the close interaction between guests and Company artists, all visitors must also provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test. Tests must be performed by a medical provider and taken within 72 hours of the workshop start time in order to be admitted to the Studios. The test results must clearly show the date and time of the test. All staff and guests in the Studios will be required to wear a mask covering both the nose and mouth at all times.
Based on CDC and New York State guidelines at the time of your visit, additional entry requirements may include a contact tracing survey, limitations on belongings in the Studio, assigned entry times, contactless temperature check, social distancing, and more. Please check back here for updates on our complete and most up-to-date protocol, which is subject to change.
