Choreography and couture returned to the stage at the 2019 Fall Gala. The evening, which has become a highlight of the New York social calendar, featured celebrated fashion designers selected to create original costumes for new works by esteemed choreographers. This year’s Gala Chairs were Sarah Jessica Parker, Stephen Galloway, Mazdack Rassi and Zanna Roberts Rassi, Kelly Ripa, and Lizzie Tisch. The special one-night-only onstage program featured two world premiere ballets as well as a repertory favorite:
NYCB Principal Dancer Lauren Lovette choreographed her third piece for the Company with original designs by couturier Zac Posen
BalletMet Artistic Director and former NYCB Soloist Edwaard Liang created a new ballet with costumes by New York fashion designer Anna Sui
George Balanchine’s dazzling classic Symphony in C closed out the program
The night began with a star-studded red carpet and glittering cocktail reception hosted by Ruinart champagne, followed by the performance, and will concluded with a black-tie Supper Ball on the Promenade of the David H. Koch Theater.
We regret that gala tickets are nonrefundable and cannot be exchanged.
