Spring Gala

Thursday, May 2, 2019

New York City Ballet welcomed the season with an annual favorite: the 2019 Spring Gala. The evening toasted our newly appointed Artistic Leadership team, Artistic Director Jonathan Stafford and Associate Artistic Director Wendy Whelan, and celebrated both the rich history and the bright future of NYCB.

The onstage program brought two exciting world premieres to our stage as well as an exhilarating classic from the Company's renowned repertory. The first was a new ballet, Bright, from NYCB Resident Choreographer and Artistic Advisor Justin Peck. The second premiere, Bartók Ballet, was created especially for the evening by contemporary choreographer Pam Tanowitz in her first work with the Company. Closing the program was George Balanchine's dazzling and timeless Tschaikovsky Suite No. 3
