Welcome to the 19-20 Season

53 stunning works across 22 programs feature three full-lengths – the three-part masterwork Jewels, the bewitching tragedy Swan Lake, and the springtime frolic A Midsummer Night’s Dream – among a rich repertory of NYCB staples and new works.

The Company’s continued commitment to the evolution of dance brings a generous offering of world premieres. Six new works will be created by Principal Dancer Lauren Lovette, Resident Choreographer Justin Peck, former NYCB Soloist and current BalletMet Artistic Director Edwaard Liang, American Ballet Theatre Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, NY-based choreographer Pam Tanowitz, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Jamar Roberts making his first work for NYCB.

In equal respects, the Company pays homage to the legacies of those passed. Merce Cunningham’s rarely seen Summerspace will mark his centennial this fall, and Episodes, including the solo originally performed by the late dance-maker Paul Taylor, will follow in winter. Also returning are Balanchine’s Haieff Divertimento and Sylvia: Pas de Deux, as well as Robbins’ Concertino and Piano Pieces. Additional highlights include two grand spectacles of dance, Union Jack and Vienna Waltzes, the beloved Firebird, and Christopher Wheeldon’s DGV: Danse à Grande Vitesse.
