CELEBRATING JUSTIN PECK’S 10TH ANNIVERSARY AS RESIDENT CHOREOGRAPHER
NYCB marks Justin Peck’s tenth year as resident choreographer with this selection of some of his finest works, displaying both his versatility and his musicality. The program includes his first dance for the Company, In Creases, from 2012, an ensemble piece set to music by Philip Glass. As its title indicates, Solo was choreographed for a single dancer, and made its debut as a short film directed by Sofia Coppola during the pandemic. Partita is one of Peck’s signature sneaker ballets, inspired by the Pulitzer Prize-winning a capella composition, which was in turn a tribute to the painter Sol LeWitt, whose daughter, Eva LeWitt, provided the designs. The program concludes with Peck's exuberant Everywhere We Go, celebrating his enduring collaboration with the composer Sufjan Stevens.

-
In Creases
Like a puzzle of shifting shapes and formations, Peck's first ballet for NYCB showcases his keen eye for manipulating bodies to form complex geometric structures and unique patterns.
-
Solo
Originally created for the Company’s virtual 2021 Spring Gala, NYCB Resident Choreographer Justin Peck’s Solo features a single dancer whose movements ebb and flow to Samuel Barber’s treasured Adagio for Strings.
-
Partita
Partita embodies the voices of Caroline Shaw's Pulitzer Prize-winning a capella composition as eight dancers in sneakers oscillate between solo and unison movements, taking inspiration from the striking set design by Eva LeWitt.
-
Everywhere We Go
The epic Everywhere We Go features 25 dancers in a nine-part exploration of Sufjan Stevens' cinematic score, the indie-pop icon's first NYCB commission, with each section accented by a multi-layered and shifting geometric backdrop.
